Electrical instruments plays an important role in engineering and industrial fields,their functions includes measuring voltage, current and frequency.There are many cheap tools available for hobbyist and begginers to advanced and professional engineers.

Common Engineering Tools.
1.multimeter.
A multimeter or multitester is a measuring instruments use for measuring voltage, current, resistance and testing for continuty in a circuit. It is hand held and powered with batteries it also consists of two probes for measuring.There are two types of a multimeter:
(a)Analog multimeter:it is use for measuring manually in a circuit,it consists of a needle pin which moves on a meter guage.It can only perform some basic functions and it is not as accurate as digital meters.
(b)Digital multimeter.it can measure, voltage, current and resistance,it is different from an analog meter which is not easy to use and not accurate due to friction on the needle.It consists of an LED display which displays measurements in numbers or digits.It also have many other features like illuminating the LED display at night,mesuring transistors and measuring temperature.I recommend this type for all engineers.
2.SMD rework station.
SMD rework is use to solder,remove and replace surface mounted devices and Integrated circuits chips on a PCB.
It is made up of an heating element and a air blower.It produces a very hot flow of air which is used to solder SMDs without contact.It temperature and rate of air flow can be controlled.there are of two types namely;
it produces heat by means of an hot elements and an air blower,it uses a thermostat to control the heat temperature and the rate of air flow.
it works with Infrared or LASER technology,it uses Infrared to produce heat instead of an hot air convection.It is more good to use than the filament type because the heat is only applied to only the component you are working on,therefore it doesn't affects it surroundings.highly recommended.
It is used to hold circuit boards while working.It prevents slippery and aid good soldering.
It is use to provide stable and controllable direct current in a circuit.It is commonly use as battery substitute and for making prototypes.
it is use for picking and grabbing small components and SMDs when soldering.
6.soldering iron.it is use for soldering and binding electrical components especially on a circuit board.It is made up of an heating element and a thermostat for adjusting it temperature.
It is use in measuring frequencies of oscillating electric current and radio frequency.
It is use for losing and thightning of screws on an electronic casing.
Use in shreading, twisting and cutting of wires.
10.laptop.
It is use for designing circuits diagrams, making PCB prototypes and designing electronic case layout and structures.
It is commonly used for printing 3 dimensional plastic materials like electronic case.The material to be printed is usually designed on a laptop in form of prototypes.
It is use for making printed circuit boards which are used to connect components together.
It is use for binding materials together. It consists of an heating material for heating solid silicon adhesive.It is usually powered by Ac power supply.
It is powered by lithium or li-po batteries.It can be used for drilling, loosing or driving in bolts and screws and also for cutting.
All this instruments are usually used by professionals in electrical and electronics and other fields of engineering.You might not be able to get them all but you just need to have basic tools like soldering iron and multimeter to start learning.
