What is an electron?
Electrons are negatively charged particles that revolves around a nucleus in certain orbits in an atom.
Structure Of Matter.
As we all know matter is any substance that occupies weight.
Matter exits in form of liquid,solid and gas.Matters are made up of molecules while molecules are made up of atoms and atoms are made up of the following;
a.electrons: are negatively charged.
They made are known as electricity when made to flow in a circuit.they dominate the outer region of the nucleus and they move in certain energy levels or quanta.
b.proton:are positively charged particles.they occupies the centre of an atom which is known as the nucleus.
c.and neutron:They don't have any charge, thus they are neutral.they exist at the nucleus of an atom.
Thus nucleus are positively charged
While electrons are negatively charged.
A neutral atom is made up of equal numbers of electrons and protons thus the charges neutralize each other to become zero or neutral.
Electrons are responsible for the conductive properties of metals.
Difference Between Electricity And Electrons.
Electrons are negative nanoscopic particles that revolves round a nucleus in an atom.They are very light that they only occupy just little space. When electrons are made to flow in circuit it is called electricity or electric current.
Thus electricity is defined as the motion of electrons in a circuit.
Electrons are arranged according to their energy levels or electron orbits or shell to their nuclei.The electron is held in its orbit by force of attraction relative to the nucleus, because unlike charges attracts.
Since they are restricted to their individual orbits they are said to occupy energy levels. Electrons in the orbit closest to the nucleus have high energy levels while those farthest to it has low energy level.
It means that it takes more energy to remove an electron closets to the nucleus than ones far away and that energy is called ionization energy.
An electron at the last orbit far away to the nucleus has the least ionization energy,thus it is more easier to remove than those nearer,and those type of electrons are called valence electrons.
When a valence electron is pulled out by a force it becomes electricity i.e electrons in motion and its atom becomes positively charged,due to the higher number of proton than electron.lt has the ability to do work.when it does work it returns to its orbit and it atom becomes neutral again.
Types of electricity
There are two types of Electricity namely;
1.Static Electricity.
This type are static i.e they are not moving.Static we are produced in the sky,when postively charged and negatively charged cloud move towards each other it neutralizes each other and it produces thunder and lightning.
Static electricity can be generated by rubbing silk and glass together.
Capacitors stores electricity in form of static charges.
2.Current Electricity.it means electrons in motion it is used in all electronics to provide power.
